The WaterVolleyball Team

Lifeguard · Competitive Swimmer · Swim Instructor · Volleyball Player

WaterVolleyball.com was started by a lifeguard, competitive swimmer, and volleyball player who wanted to build the resource that didn't exist — a single place where people could learn everything about water volleyball, find honest equipment reviews, and discover new ways to have fun in the pool.

We've spent years in and around the water. Our founder is a certified lifeguard and former swim instructor who grew up competing on swim teams and playing volleyball. That combination of aquatic safety training, competitive swimming experience, and volleyball knowledge is exactly what you need when you're writing about a sport played in the water.

What we cover

WaterVolleyball.com covers water volleyball rules, equipment, and strategy along with a growing library of content on pool games, aquatic fitness, pool ownership, beach volleyball, and water sports. Our goal is to be the most useful, accurate, and trustworthy pool and water sports resource on the web.

Every product we review has been researched thoroughly, and our recommendations are based on real-world pool use — not spec sheet comparisons from a desk. When we say a volleyball net holds up in rough play, it's because we've tested it during actual games. When we say a pool float is comfortable for all-day lounging, we've spent the afternoon on it.

Our credentials

We bring real water sports experience to everything we publish:

Lifeguard certified

Pool safety isn't just a content category for us. It's a professional credential. Our safety content reflects actual lifeguard training, not secondhand research.

Competitive swimming background

Our founder swam competitively, which informs our swimming technique articles, workout guides, and fitness content with the kind of detail that only comes from training in the water.

Swim instruction experience

Years of teaching people to swim, from toddlers to adults, gives us a practical understanding of how different skill levels interact with the water. This shapes how we write about adapting games for all ages and abilities, and why our beginner guides are genuinely accessible.

Volleyball playing experience

We've played volleyball on courts, on sand, and in the pool. Understanding the sport from a player's perspective means our rules guides, strategy articles, and equipment reviews reflect how the game actually plays, not just how it reads in a rulebook.

Our standards

We hold ourselves to a few non-negotiable standards:

Honest recommendations

We never recommend a product just because it pays a higher commission. If something is mediocre, we say so. Our readers trust us because we've earned it, and we're not going to trade that for a few extra dollars.

Tested where possible, thoroughly researched always

For products we can get our hands on, we test them in real pool conditions. For products we can't physically test, we do deep research across manufacturer specs, verified buyer reviews, and expert sources before forming an opinion.

Safety first

With a lifeguard on the team, safety is built into everything we write. You'll find safety notes, age-appropriate recommendations, and responsible guidance throughout our content. We don't treat pool safety as an afterthought.

Regular updates

Pool products change, prices shift, and items get discontinued. We review our product content regularly to make sure our recommendations are current. If a product we recommended is no longer available or a better option has come along, we update the article.

How we test products

Our product reviews go beyond unboxing. For equipment we can get our hands on, we test in real pool conditions during actual games with multiple players of different skill levels. We evaluate durability over weeks and months of use, not just first impressions.

For products we review based on research, we analyze manufacturer specifications, cross-reference hundreds of verified buyer reviews, consult expert sources, and compare against products we have tested firsthand. We never publish a recommendation we wouldn't stand behind.

Every review includes both pros and cons. If a product has a weakness, we'll tell you about it — and suggest a better alternative when one exists.

Affiliate disclosure

WaterVolleyball.com is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. This helps us keep the site running and continue producing free content. Our affiliate relationships never influence our recommendations — we recommend what we'd buy ourselves.
